This week’s challenge is 2017 Favourites
The challenge calls on us “To celebrate the end of the year, share the most meaningful photo you’ve taken in 2017.”
I don’t know how many photos I’ve taken this year, somewhere in excess of 20 000 but here are five of my favourites.
The first I call “Gas Station at Night” taken in Varketili in February, this reminds me of Edward Hopper’s oeuvre. He painted gas stations and he painted many night scenes.
My second is “Pine Needles in the Rain“, at the beginning of the hiking season (early June) we went camping in Dariali Gorge and it rained heavily.
The third is a slightly humorous shot entitled “Please Die”, I often take photos of people using their phones for selfies, the digital generation. After I took the shot I noticed the graffiti saying “please die”, which seemed appropriate for the expression on the man’s face, which we might relate to his girlfriend taking innumerable selfies.
I have another blog about collecting diecast model cars (especially Matchbox and Hot Wheels) diecast blog. I have taken to habitually carrying around a model from my collection in a pocket, to grab potential photo opportunities. Here is a photograph of a Matchbox VW Karmann Ghia Convertible, taken at the graveyard where my father-in-law is buried on the outskirts of Tbilisi.
And I’ll finish with my grandchildren eating bananas….
